Installation notes for schools using RM Community Connect 3
1) Install
to RMPublic
2) Create Shortcuts
3) Allocate shortcuts to teachers and students
4) If necessary, prevent 'Software Restrictions' for
Classroom Q&A
1) RMPublic (Drive P:)

From the archive, extract the files shown below to a folder on the RMPUBLIC
drive –
eg. P:\Classroom Q&A\
**Note**
classroomqa_licence.cli (not required for trial installation)
Create a notepad file called
“teacherservers.txt” with the configuration details
for your school.

RMShortcut Bank
The shortcuts to the teacher & student programs need to be placed in the
shortcut bank.
This is found on the main server and can be accessed by a sysadmin as followed:
• From the START button click run & type the root of your server
Eg.

• Open the RMShortcut Bank folder
• Create a shortcut to Classroom Teacher.exe and call it ![]()
Target: “P:\Classroom Q&A\Classroom Teacher.exe”
Start In: “N:\”

• Create a shortcut to
Classroom Student.exe and call it ![]()
Target: “P:\Classroom Q&A\Classroom Student.exe”
Start In: “N:\”

RM Management Console
Open the RM Management Console & browse to Resources->Program Sets

Click the "New Program Set" button![]()
General: Enter "Classroom Q&A" as the name & "Classroom
Q&A Student" as the description.
Shortcuts: Select “Source=Shortcut Bank” & select the “Classroom
Q&A” shortcut (Student Program)
Groups: Select Students
Now, ensure that the "Classroom
Q&A Teacher shortcut" is allocated to Staff. This can be done using
a new program set as above or by adding the shortcut to an existing set such
as "Staff Tools" (Where the shortcut for “RM Tutor 2 Teacher”
would be)

Software Restriction Settings
If your users are prevented from running executables on drive P: by a software
restriction policy, this can be remedied by altering the Software Restriction
Settings.
Click START -> System Management
- > Software Restriction Settings.
The following message will be displayed
Click OK
Browse to… Software Restrictions->Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Software Restrictions
Repeat the following process for 3 programs “Classroom Teacher.exe”, “Classroom Student.exe” & “QIZEditor.exe”
• Right click Additional Rules
& select “New Hash Rule”

• Click Browse & locate “Classroom Teacher.exe”

• Enter a description for
the Hash Rule eg. Classroom Q&A Teacher

When complete the Software Restrictions will appear like this
